Personally, I have always and will continue to be a follower of Mrs. O’s style – Jackie O to be exact. Mind you, the current First Lady has also managed to set the style bar high at the White House. Michelle Obama has successfully brought fashion to the fore during her husband’s stay in office. Her distinguished look is classic yet bright. She is absolutely fearless when it comes to colour! From tangerine orange to cobalt blue, Michelle works the colour wheel to her advantage. She famously favours American designers and her go-to team usually include Thakoon, Narciso Rodriguez and the superb Michael Kors. She also rocks the J-Crew cardigan every few weeks. She does her best to keep couture at a bare minimum, opting for prêt-à-porter for most public events, which in this economy is both shrewd and well played.
There are many books detailing her style and now there is even a blog dedicated to Michelle’s wardrobe. It’s called Mrs. O . She is truly a modern millennium First Lady. She even held her own against the stunning Carla Bruni during the state visit to France. For that alone we must applaud. Michelle has also graced the covers of countless magazines, but most impressively the covers of Glamour and Vogue.
